We got to the airport on time today - which means we got there about 2 hours earlier than necessary. And we waited, and then waited some more. The plane had a mechanical malfunction, and "they would know more in 10 minutes." The ten minutes became twenty, and then it became 2-3 hours. We finally took off too late to make our connection to Beijing.
But all is well, we're on our way, and the airlines re-routed us through London! So, we will literally travel around the world in 16 days, with a 4 hour layover in London. We might even see some family whilst there! Isn't it wonderful the way some things turn? We haven't seen them in years, and we've certainly got a new start to our story!
More later - we'll get to Beijing about 12 hours later than planned - but the only remaining option was an extra day in Chicago and a 24 hour delay. And we'll hopefully have a good sleep on the plane tonight.
(p.s. Guest Blogger on board whilst the plane is enroute...)

Via London? But that's the wrong direction! Oh well. At least you'll end up in China. I guess it really is a slow boat. haha. :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra, i hope you guys can see Betty or Richard or any of the cousins while in London. At least that would be a nice positive spin to the plane issues. Love, Steve
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to start your travel journey. Please post from London so we can see your family too. Can you post pics while being a guest blogger? Better try it out now for practice. Because you know us, we love us some pics.
ReplyDeleteWhat a crazy travel story Sandy! So excited that you are finally on your way to meet your beautiful princess Chloe. Have safe travels and can't wait to finally see her in your arms.
